Well, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/business\/deals\/u-s-government-expected-to-get-multibillion-dollar-fee-in-tiktok-deal-685e3944?st=Z4pVCZ&amp;reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Wall Street Journal<\/em> is reporting<\/a> that the Trump Administration is \u201cexpected to collect a multibillion-dollar fee\u201d in exchange for negotiating a US takeover of TikTok\u2019s US business.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">That fee will reportedly come from TikTok\u2019s US investors, including private equity firm Silver Lake and Oracle, with the new group getting half of TikTok, while TikTok China\u2019s parent company ByteDance would still have under 20 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Yesterday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DOwC4q7kYpg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump said that<\/a> \u201cthe United States is getting a tremendous fee-plus, I call it a \u2018fee-plus,\u2019 just for making the deal.\u201d But Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/738172\/trump-threatens-100-percent-tariff-on-computer-chips-with-a-gigantic-loophole\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">says a lot of things that need dissecting<\/a>, and it was absolutely unclear today <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/policy\/781967\/tiktok-deal-us-china-still-ambiguous\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">whether there\u2019s even a TikTok deal or not<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">So to see the <em>WSJ<\/em> reporting that \u201cpeople familiar with the matter\u201d think a deal might not only get approved, but also see billions of dollars flow from US companies into the Trump Administration\u2019s coffers, sounds like something to be aware of.
