One of Discord\u2019s third-party customer service providers was compromised by an \u201cunauthorized party,\u201d the company says<\/a>. The unauthorized party gained access to \u201cinformation from a limited number of users who had contacted Discord through our Customer Support and\/or Trust & Safety teams\u201d and aimed to \u201cextort a financial ransom from Discord.\u201d The unauthorized party \u201cdid not gain access to Discord directly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Data potentially accessed by the hack includes things like names, usernames, emails, and the last four digits of credit card numbers. The unauthorized party also accessed a \u201csmall number\u201d of images of government IDs from \u201cusers who had appealed an age determination.\u201d Full credit card numbers and passwords were not impacted by the breach, Discord says.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The company is notifying impacted users now over email. If your ID might have been accessed, Discord will specify that. Discord also says it revoked the support provider\u2019s access to Discord\u2019s ticketing system, has notified data protection authorities, is working with law enforcement, and has reviewed \u201cour threat detection systems and security controls for third-party support providers.\u201d<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
