{"id":161,"date":"2025-05-18T02:13:15","date_gmt":"2025-05-17T22:13:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.actutech.app\/amazon-claims-its-constantly-inviting-new-customers-to-alexa-plus\/"},"modified":"2025-05-18T02:13:15","modified_gmt":"2025-05-17T22:13:15","slug":"amazon-claims-its-constantly-inviting-new-customers-to-alexa-plus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.actutech.app\/en\/amazon-claims-its-constantly-inviting-new-customers-to-alexa-plus\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazon claims it\u2019s \u2018constantly inviting\u2019 new customers to Alexa Plus"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-caption=\"\" data-portal-copyright=\"\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.theverge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/02\/alexa-plus.png?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;crop=0,0,100,100\" \/><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/p><\/figure>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Yesterday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/media-telecom\/weeks-after-amazons-alexa-ai-launch-mystery-where-are-users-2025-05-16\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Reuters<\/em> ran a story<\/a> with the headline \u201cWeeks after Amazon\u2019s Alexa+ AI launch, a mystery: where are the users?,\u201d in which it detailed its difficulty locating first-hand accounts of the AI-upgraded assistants\u2019 use online. <em>The Verge<\/em> asked Amazon about the story, and the company has responded to say that the idea that Alexa Plus isn\u2019t available is \u201csimply wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Here\u2019s the company\u2019s full \u2014 and rather strongly-worded! \u2014 statement on the matter, provided by Amazon spokesperson Eric Sveum via email to <em>The Verge<\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">It\u2019s simply wrong to say that Alexa+ isn\u2019t available to customers\u2014that assertion is false. Hundreds of thousands of customers have access to Alexa+ and we\u2019re constantly inviting more customers that have requested Early Access.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Sveum also shared the below screenshot of what the email invite should look like.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.theverge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/image0.jpeg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;crop=0,33.876056880351,100,32.247886239298\" alt=\"Screenshot of an Alexa Plus invite email.\" title=\"Screenshot of an Alexa Plus invite email.\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" data-caption=\"\" data-portal-copyright=\"Image: Amazon\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Alexa Plus is Amazon\u2019s generative AI-updated version of Alexa, which it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/619755\/amazon-alexa-ai-upgrade-artificial-intelligence-smart-assistant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced in February<\/a> is free to Amazon Prime subscribers or $19.99 a month otherwise. <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">While <em>Reuters<\/em> doesn\u2019t say Alexa Plus isn\u2019t available to customers yet, it does quote an analyst who said, \u201cThere seems to be no one who actually has it.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">The outlet also reported that its efforts to find any real-world Alexa Plus users came up empty, writing that it had \u201csearched dozens of news sites, YouTube, TikTok, X, BlueSky and Meta\u2019s Instagram and Facebook, as well as Amazon\u2019s Twitch and reviews of Echo voice-assistant devices on Amazon.com.\u201d It added that it spoke with two people who\u2019d posted on Reddit claiming to have used Alexa Plus, but that they \u201cdid not provide Reuters with hard evidence and their identities could not be corroborated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Still, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/home\/smart-home\/amazon-rolls-out-alexa-to-more-early-access-users-183017242.html?src=rss\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Engadget<\/em> reported today<\/a> that a wave of emails had gone out on Friday, inviting Amazon Alexa users to try out Alexa Plus. The outlet also reported that an Amazon spokesperson had told it \u201chundreds of thousands\u201d of customers have tried the assistant. <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Amazon started <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/639697\/amazon-alexa-plus-launch-early-access-missing-features\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rolling out its early access program<\/a> to a few customers at the end of March. At the time, it was missing features like the ability to order takeout from Grubhub using conversational context, or identify family members and remind them about chores. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/639697\/amazon-alexa-plus-launch-early-access-missing-features\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">page on Amazon\u2019s website<\/a> notes that some features are still \u201ccoming soon,\u201d like being able to access Alexa Plus in a web browser or on a Fire TV or Amazon tablet.
