As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.404media.co\/fbi-tries-to-unmask-owner-of-infamous-archive-is-site\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>404 Media<\/em><\/a>, the FBI subpoena, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/archiveis\/status\/1984093883056422993\" target=\"_blank\">posted on the official Archive.today X account<\/a>, was sent to web domain registrar Tucows on October 30th demanding the \u201ccustomer or subscriber name, address of service, and billing address\u201d associated with Archive.today.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">The subpoena also requests telephone records, payment information, internet session info, network addresses, and even the services the site\u2019s owner has used, such as email or cloud computing services. It goes on to say that this info \u201crelates to a federal criminal investigation being conducted by the FBI,\u201d but it doesn\u2019t reference a specific crime.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Archive.today has been around since 2012, but the identity of the site\u2019s owner remains unconfirmed. Someone who goes by the common Russian name, or possibly pseudonym, \u201cDenis Petrov\u201d from Prague, Czech Republic registered the original domain of the site, but <a href=\"https:\/\/gyrovague.com\/2023\/08\/05\/archive-today-on-the-trail-of-the-mysterious-guerrilla-archivist-of-the-internet\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/gyrovague.com\/2023\/08\/05\/archive-today-on-the-trail-of-the-mysterious-guerrilla-archivist-of-the-internet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">little else is known<\/a> about who that person is.
