On November 18th, Operation: Infinite will be released for Halo Infinite<\/em> players with a battle pass and lots of new customizations, but according to the team<\/a>, that\u2019s it for this game\u2019s content updates:<\/p>\n

With multiple Halo titles in development, we\u2019ll need our whole team\u2019s combined focus to deliver new experiences with the same passion and care that our community has given us. While we remain committed to supporting Halo Infinite on the road ahead, Operation: Infinite is the last major content update currently planned.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Putting this game into maintenance mode is an awkward counterpart after last month\u2019s news of a 2026 multiplatform release for the Halo: Campaign Evolved<\/em> remake<\/a>, but that\u2019s the way things have gone for Infinite ever since it came out of the blocks stumbling with an ugly, unpolished eight-minute gameplay trailer<\/a> in 2020.<\/p>\n

The game was eventually delayed<\/a> another year to late 2021, missing the launch of the Xbox Series X \/ S consoles, and shipping without features<\/a> like campaign co-op and the Forge customization mode. The infamous Craig did get a glow-up<\/a>, and subsequent updates<\/a> checked off some of the community\u2019s wishlist items. Still, it\u2019s clearer than ever that the future of Halo<\/em> is cross-platform<\/a> and doesn\u2019t include the free-to-play multiplayer of Infinite<\/em>, as Xbox hardware sales continue to slow, and Microsoft\u2019s profitability push shuts down studios and raises prices<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now, the team writes, \u201cwe\u2019ve been floored by the response\u201d to Campaign Evolved<\/em>, which will be released on both PS5 and Xbox next year.<\/p>\n
