The Department of Defense is announcing its own \u00ab\u00a0bespoke\u00a0\u00bb AI platform, GenAI.mil<\/a>, and Google Cloud’s Gemini will be the first AI tool available on it, according to a press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth (who has dubbed himself Secretary of War, though the name has not been legally changed by Congress<\/a>) promised that the platform \u00ab\u00a0puts the worlds [sic] most powerful frontier AI models directly into the hands of every American warrior\u00a0\u00bb and will \u00ab\u00a0make our fighting force more lethal than ever before.\u00a0\u00bb In a video, Hegseth says that \u00ab\u00a0the future of American warfare is here, and it’s spelled A-I.\u00a0\u00bb <\/p>\n
