Tech company CEOs aren\u2019t just making their companies AI-first: this week, they\u2019re using AI avatars to replace themselves in earnings calls.<\/p>\n

Buy-now-pay-later company Klarna featured the AI version of CEO and co-founder Sebastian Siemiatkowski in an 83-second video about its Q1 2025 results<\/a>, as reported by TechCrunch<\/em><\/a>. The video\u2019s description<\/a> says that his \u201cAI avatar\u201d is presenting the results, and the AI avatar kicks off the video by saying that \u201cit\u2019s me, or rather, my AI avatar.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Klarna has already been vocal about how it uses AI in its business, with Siemiatkowski telling CNBC<\/a> this month that the company shrunk its workforce in part as a result of its AI investments. This also isn\u2019t even the first time<\/a> the company has used an AI version of Siemiatkowski to share earnings.<\/p>\n

Zoom CEO Eric Yuan also deployed an AI version of himself for the company\u2019s Q1 2026 earnings call on Wednesday. \u201cToday, I\u2019m using our custom avatars for Zoom Clips with AI Companion to share my part of the earnings report,\u201d Yuan\u2019s avatar said in a video<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m proud to be among the first-ever CEOs to use an avatar in an earnings call.\u201d In the top right corner of the video, you can see a message that says \u201ccreated with Zoom AI Companion.\u201d<\/p>\n

The human Yuan showed up for the live Q&A portion of the call, though. \u201cI truly love my AI-generated avatar,\u201d he said while responding to the first question. \u201cI think we are going to continue using that.
