That prompted legal challenges, raised questions about its legality, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/11\/5\/24289173\/elon-musk-america-pac-class-action-lawsuit-fraud\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">drew lawsuits from two Arizona residents<\/a> claiming the lottery was a fraud. Musk has now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2026\/oct\/17\/elon-musk-2024-million-dollar-promise-lawsuit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">agreed to settle the two lawsuits<\/a> filed in Austin, Texas, though the details of the settlement have not been made public.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The plaintiffs claim that when Musk announced the sweepstakes, he falsely claimed the prizes would be awarded randomly. Philadelphia&rsquo;s District Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/10\/28\/24281752\/elon-musk-pennsylvania-election-2024-lottery-lawsuit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sued to stop the giveaway<\/a>, claiming that Musk was running an illegal lottery.
