{"id":448,"date":"2025-06-12T01:10:39","date_gmt":"2025-06-11T21:10:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.actutech.app\/google-will-reduce-pixel-6a-battery-capacity-due-to-overheating-issues\/"},"modified":"2025-06-12T01:10:39","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T21:10:39","slug":"google-will-reduce-pixel-6a-battery-capacity-due-to-overheating-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.actutech.app\/en\/google-will-reduce-pixel-6a-battery-capacity-due-to-overheating-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"Google will reduce Pixel 6A battery capacity due to overheating issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-caption=\"\" data-portal-copyright=\"\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.theverge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/06\/vpavic_220708_5335_0008.jpg.webp?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;crop=0,0,100,100\" \/><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/p><\/figure>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Earlier this year, Google shipped a Pixel 4A update to some owners that lowered <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2025\/1\/7\/24338566\/google-pixel-4a-battery-stability-replacement-reduced-capacity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">battery life<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/627543\/google-pixel-4a-battery-update-overheating-recall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mitigate overheating risk<\/a>, and soon, it\u2019s going to do the same for the Pixel 6A.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">\u201cA subset of Pixel 6A phones will require a mandatory software update to reduce the risk of potential battery overheating,\u201d Google\u2019s Alex Moriconi says in a statement to <em>The Verge<\/em>. \u201cThe update will enable battery management features that will reduce capacity and charging performance after the battery reaches 400 charge cycles. We\u2019ll contact impacted customers next month, with all the information they need to address the issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">As reported <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/pixel-6a-battery-overheating-warning-3566640\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">by <em>Android Authority<\/em><\/a>, at least two users have reported instances of their Pixel 6A phones catching fire, with one person on Reddit saying their Pixel 6A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/GooglePixel\/comments\/1knwuh8\/my_google_pixel_6a_spontaneously_combusted_in_the\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cspontaneously combusted in the middle of the night.\u201d<\/a> <em>Android Authority<\/em> also spotted code strings in the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 release alerting Pixel 6A users to \u201ca potential battery overheating issue\u201d and pointing toward a support page at <a href=\"http:\/\/g.co\/pixel\/6abattery\" target=\"_blank\">g.co\/pixel\/6abattery<\/a> that currently isn\u2019t live.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">In April, Google <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/655371\/google-pixel-7a-extended-repair-program-battery-swelling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">also announced<\/a> an extended repair
