Nintendo has just raised the price of the original Switch in the US. The console, which has cost $299.99 since its release in 2017, is now priced at $339.99 <\/strong>on Nintendo\u2019s online store<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The price hike will make other first-gen Switch models more expensive, too, with the Switch OLED<\/a> going from $349.99 to $399.99, and the Switch Lite<\/a> increasing from $199.99 to $229.99. Nintendo also issued $10 price increases for the Alarmo<\/a> and Switch 1 Joy-Cons<\/a>, which are now priced at $109.99 and $89.99, respectively.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Nintendo announced<\/a> that it would be raising the price of its family of original Switch consoles and accessories this way, just like it already did in Canada<\/a>.\u00a0The company noted that the change won\u2019t impact the prices of the Switch 2 console, or Switch and Switch 2 games, whether physical or digital.<\/p>\n

With the price increase, the Switch OLED is now only slightly less expensive than the $449.99 Switch 2<\/a> (which doesn\u2019t have an OLED display). The Switch 2 has been a massive hit<\/a> so far, selling over 6 million units since launch despite Nintendo struggling to keep up with demand<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nintendo said its decision to raise the price of its original console is \u201cbased on market conditions.\u201d The announcement came just one day after President Donald Trump signed an executive order<\/a> that will impose new \u201creciprocal\u201d tariffs on a range of countries. Trump\u2019s growing list of tariffs now includes a 20 percent levy on products imported from Vietnam, where Nintendo has transferred most of its production<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
