The lock was also easy to install thanks to the detailed instructions Kwikset provided, along with its intuitive mobile app. Out of the box, the Halo Select works with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Kwikset\u2019s app via the cloud. If you have a Matter controller and Thread border router \u2014 such as a current-gen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bestbuy.com\/site\/apple-tv-4k-64gb-3rd-generationlatest-model-wi-fi-black\/6500684.p\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apple TV<\/a>, a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B07XKF75B8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Echo speaker<\/a>, or an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B08ZK39NSL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eero router<\/a> \u2014 you can connect to those platforms locally, and gain the ability to control the lock using Apple Home or Samsung SmartThings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">In our tests, using the Halo Select over Matter significantly improved its battery life. However, using the Halo Select via Matter meant giving up its auto-unlock feature, which worked reliably. Having your door unlock itself as you\u2019re walking up to it is very convenient, but Matter doesn\u2019t currently support auto-unlock, door sensing, fingerprint access, or facial recognition. The auto-unlock feature also requires you to have Kwikset\u2019s app open on your phone in the background. You can also connect the V3 Pro to your PC wirelessly via a 2.4Ghz USB dongle (included) or with a USB-C cable.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Sonos Era 300<\/strong>, my go-to smart speaker, is on sale at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Sonos-Era-300-Wireless-Speaker\/dp\/B0BW2LV57K\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestbuy.com\/product\/sonos-era-300-smart-speaker-with-spatial-audio-each-black\/J39H3736FZ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Best Buy<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walmart.com\/ip\/Sonos-Era-300-Voice-Controlled-Wireless-Smart-Speaker-with-Bluetooth-Trueplay-Acoustic-Tuning-Technology-Alexa-Built-In-Black\/3850027915\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Walmart<\/a> for $359 ($90 off), which matches its all-time low.
