Nevertheless, President Donald Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/climate-change\/666244\/offshore-wind-energy-outlook-trump-tariffs-tax-credits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has waged his war<\/a> against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/features\/760555\/vineyard-wind-turbine-blade-break-nantucket\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wind farms<\/a>, attempting to eliminate competition to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/07\/30\/climate\/trump-campaign-funding-oil-industry-tax-breaks.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the fossil fuel industry that<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/energy-environment\/4961820-oil-bigwigs-open-wallets-for-trump-after-billion-dollar-request\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">backed Trump\u2019s campaign<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">The Trump administration similarly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/650974\/offshore-wind-donald-trump-empire-new-york-halt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">paused construction of the Empire Wind farm<\/a> off the coast of New York state earlier this year, which reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-05-12\/equinor-s-halted-new-york-wind-project-is-running-out-of-time?sref=Oz9Q3OZU&amp;utm_source=cbnewsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=2025-05-13&amp;utm_campaign=Daily+Briefing+13+05+2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cost its developers $50 million a week<\/a> before it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/670568\/offshore-wind-empire-new-york-trump-restart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">allowed to start work again<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Revolution Wind is supposed to provide enough electricity for more than 350,000 homes in Rhode Island and Connecticut after coming online next year.
