The feature is only rolling out for Team and Enterprise users for now, allowing Claude to automatically incorporate someone\u2019s preferences, the context of the project they\u2019re working on, and their main priorities into each of its responses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Anthropic rolled out the ability for paid users to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/757743\/anthropic-claude-ai-search-past-chats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prompt Claude to remember past chats<\/a> last month, but now the chatbot can pull up these details without Team and Enterprise users having to ask. Claude\u2019s memory also carries over to projects, a feature that lets Pro and Teams generate things like diagrams, website designs, graphics, and more, based on files they upload to the chatbot. <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">It seems to be particularly focused on work-related details, like a \u201cteam\u2019s processes\u201d and \u201cclient needs.\u201d Anthropic notes that memory is \u201cfully optional.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.theverge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/claude-project-memories.webp?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;crop=0,0,100,100\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" data-caption=\"&lt;em&gt;Claude will retain separate memories for every project a user creates.&lt;\/em&gt; | Image: Anthropic\" data-portal-copyright=\"Image: Anthropic\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Anthropic says users can view and edit the memory Claude has stored from their settings menu. \u201cBased on what you tell Claude to focus on or to ignore, Claude will adjust the memories it references,\u201d Anthropic says. Both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/646968\/openai-chatgpt-long-term-memory-upgrade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OpenAI<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/758624\/google-gemini-ai-automatic-memory-privacy-update\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google<\/a> have already launched cross-chat memories for their chatbots. Last month, a report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/08\/08\/technology\/ai-chatbots-delusions-chatgpt.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The New York Times<\/em><\/a> linked ChatGPT\u2019s rollout of cross-chat memories to an increase in reports of \u201cdelusional\u201d AI chats.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Along with memories, Anthropic is rolling out incognito chats for all users, which Claude won\u2019t save to its chat history or refer to in future chats.
