Sources <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/09\/16\/tiktok-bytedance-oracle-china.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tell CNBC\u2019s David Faber<\/a> that the US and China might close on an agreement within the next 30 to 45 days, while Oracle will remain the app\u2019s cloud partner, allowing it to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/631999\/oracle-tiktok-ban-deal-project-texas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">continue routing US user data<\/a> on American servers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">On Monday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told reporters that the US and China <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/778087\/tiktok-ban-framework-deal-us-china-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">have reached a \u201cframework deal\u201d<\/a> for TikTok. He added that President Donald Trump would confirm the deal on Friday \u2014 two days after TikTok\u2019s latest deadline to divest expires. Trump has already given TikTok <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/688252\/tiktok-ban-trump-extension-deal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">three extensions to negotiate a deal<\/a>, and it\u2019s unclear whether he\u2019ll grant TikTok another while the company finalizes an agreement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">TikTok\u2019s future in the US became shrouded in uncertainty after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/4\/24\/24139036\/biden-signs-tiktok-ban-bill-divest-foreign-aid-package\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">federal government passed<\/a> the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, which mandates that TikTok must divest from its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, or face a ban in the US due to national security concerns.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">On Tuesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/briefings\/china-agrees-tiktok-deal-u-s-includes-algorithm-licensing?utm_campaign=%5BREBRAND%5D+%5BTI-AM%5D+Th&amp;utm_content=1095&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=cio&amp;utm_term=124\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Information<\/em> reported<\/a> that the US and China have reached an agreement on the \u201clicensing of TikTok\u2019s algorithms and other intellectual property rights.\u201d Previous reports suggested that TikTok <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/698999\/tiktok-ban-sale-rumor-new-app-oracle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">could launch a separate version<\/a> of its app for US users. As noted by CNBC, a group of investment firms, including some existing ByteDance shareholders, could gain control of TikTok\u2019s US operations.
