ArXiv, a popular platform for preprint academic research, is taking a new step to attempt to reduce the volume of papers that include AI slop.<\/p>\n

If a paper has \u00ab\u00a0incontrovertible evidence that the authors did not check the results of LLM generation,\u00a0\u00bb such as hallucinated references or \u00ab\u00a0meta-comments\u00a0\u00bb left by an LLM, authors will be banned from ArXiv for a year, according to<\/a> Thomas Dietterich, ArXiv’s section chair of its computer science section. Future ArXiv submissions will also have to be accepted at \u00ab\u00a0a reputable peer-reviewed venue.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n
