It\u2019s coming at a pivotal time for the PlayStation brand: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/games\/902224\/sony-ps5-playstation-price-hike\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/games\/902224\/sony-ps5-playstation-price-hike\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The PS5 keeps getting more expensive<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/games\/935536\/bungie-destiny-2-final-update-date\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/games\/935536\/bungie-destiny-2-final-update-date\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sony\u2019s big bet on live-service games has largely fallen flat<\/a>. A good showing at SGF won\u2019t fix everything, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/entertainment\/939919\/xbox-playstation-summer-game-fest-2026\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/entertainment\/939919\/xbox-playstation-summer-game-fest-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">it could help show that PlayStation is on the right path moving forward<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">For its part, Sony says its latest State of Play will feature \u201cmore than 60 minutes of updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from top studios around the world.\u201d The only confirmed part of the event\u2019s lineup is <em>Wolverine<\/em>, from <em>Spider-Man<\/em> developer Insomniac, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/games\/883760\/playstation-marvels-wolverine-release-date-insomniac-games\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/games\/883760\/playstation-marvels-wolverine-release-date-insomniac-games\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which is slated to launch in September<\/a>. But given the length of the stream, there\u2019ll be plenty more detailed. Maybe we\u2019ll see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/entertainment\/937970\/the-witcher-3-songs-of-the-past-expansion\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/entertainment\/937970\/the-witcher-3-songs-of-the-past-expansion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the just-announced third expansion for <em>The Witcher 3<\/em><\/a>, or the long-awaited final installment of the <em>Final Fantasy VII <\/em>remake trilogy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/24320197\/intergalactic-the-heretic-prophet-naughty-dog-trailer-game-awards-2024\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/24320197\/intergalactic-the-heretic-prophet-naughty-dog-trailer-game-awards-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">or some more of <em>Intergalactic<\/em><\/a>, the next big project from <em>The Last of Us<\/em> developer Naughty Dog. It\u2019s also likely the event will provide some insight into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/games\/940214\/marathon-bungie-season-two-turnaround-destiny-changes\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/games\/940214\/marathon-bungie-season-two-turnaround-destiny-changes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the uncertain future of
