Xbox is closing down Ninja Theory, the studio behind the Hellblade<\/em> series, a source tells The Verge<\/em>. Staffers were told on a call on Monday about the closure, but they are hoping the studio will find a buyer. The closure comes as \u00ab\u00a0several\u00a0\u00bb Xbox studios at Microsoft, including Compulsion Games and Double Fine, are in \u00ab\u00a0active negotiations\u00a0\u00bb about spinning off, Bloomberg<\/em> reports<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The closure and negotiations follow Xbox CEO Asha Sharma and chief content officer Matt Booty warning last week of a \u00ab\u00a0reset\u00a0\u00bb at Xbox<\/a>, laying out several challenges facing Xbox’s business – including that it had \u00ab\u00a0over extended\u00a0\u00bb with its studio system and the hardware c \u2026<\/p>\n
