It comes with a new feature, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/12\/17\/24323233\/google-home-access-tiers-admin-member-smart-devices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google first started testing<\/a> last year, that will let you assign people \u201cAdmin\u201d and \u201cMember\u201d roles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">People with Admin status <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/googlenest\/answer\/9155535?visit_id=638869927312101468-3579328759&amp;p=share_home&amp;rd=2#zippy=%2Cinvite-people-to-a-home%2Cwhats-shared-with-google-accounts-for-children%2Cwhats-shared-with-member-level-access%2Cwhats-shared-with-admin-level-access\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">have full control<\/a> of all the devices, services, and users within their smart home, while Members can only use \u201cbasic\u201d device controls, like watching the live view of a security camera. However, admins can grant Members additional privileges by giving them \u201cSettings\u201d access, allowing for control over device and home-wide settings. Admins can also turn on \u201cActivity\u201d access so Members can keep tabs on device history and recent events, such as a visitor picked up by a doorbell camera.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.theverge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/07\/google-household-home.png?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;crop=0,15.938264367584,100,68.123471264833\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" data-has-syndication-rights=\"1\" data-caption=\"\" data-portal-copyright=\"Image: Google\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">Google is also simplifying the process of adding a child under 13 to the Home app. Once you set up your kid with a Google account through Family Link, you can invite them to your Google Home, which will add them as a Member by default.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">The previous process involved using either Family Link, Google Home, or Google Assistant settings to add your child\u2019s voice to your smart home before inviting them to your home, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/googlehome\/comments\/tpjdda\/cant_add_my_kids_to_home_assistant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">many users<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/googlehome\/comments\/10ite2v\/is_voice_match_for_children_just_broken\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">struggled<\/a> to get it to work.
