In May, we learned that the development of a sequel to the Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> game is moving forward<\/a> at CD Projekt Red, and today, at the Anime Expo 2025 event, it officially announced a new season<\/a> of the anime spinoff for Netflix. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2<\/a><\/em> will have \u201c\u2026an entirely new story, fresh characters, and a raw, realistic take on the most dangerous city of the dark future.<\/p>\n

The new season will be directed by Kai Ikarashi, who also directed episode six in the first season, \u201cGirl on Fire.\u201d There\u2019s no word yet on when Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2<\/em> will premiere, but they did show off this new poster artwork. A trailer will be shown later tonight during a panel at 8:30PM PT for the animation studio, Trigger. <\/p>\n

Showrunner and writer Bartosz Sztybor said during Friday\u2019s panel<\/a> that for season one, \u201cI just wanted to make the whole world sad\u2026 when people are sad, I\u2019m a bit happy,\u201d and that this new 10-episode season will be \u201c\u2026of course, sadder, but it will be also darker, more bloody, and more raw.\u201d<\/p>\n
