Widespread Starlink outages, like the ones we reported on in 2022 and 2023, have been rare, and this appears to be the first one in 2025. <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">The outage began around 3:15PM ET or so, with users receiving error messages saying there is \u201cno healthy upstream.\u201d Starlink <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Starlink\/status\/1948474586699571518\" target=\"_blank\">posted a message on X<\/a> at 4:05PM ET: \u201cStarlink is currently in a network outage and we are actively implementing a solution. We appreciate your patience, we\u2019ll share an update once this issue is resolved.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">At 6:23PM ET, Starlink engineering VP Michael Nicolls followed that up with a message saying that after a 2.5-hour outage, the network has \u201cmostly recovered.\u201d \u201cThe outage was due to failure of key internal software services that operate the core network,\u201d writes Nicolls, without going into specific detail. <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\">According to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/global-starlink-outage-affects-ukrainian-soldiers-on-the-frontlines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Kyiv Independent<\/a><\/em>, the outage affected Ukrainian troops who rely on Starlink terminals, citing <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/robert_magyar\/1205\" target=\"_blank\">a Telegram message from the military<\/a> saying Starlink is down across the entire front. The military now says its connections are back online after going down for about 150 minutes, \u201cthe longest in the war.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-none\"> T-Mobile just opened <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/712546\/starlink-powered-t-satellite-service-is-now-live-on-t-mobile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">its Starlink-powered T-Satellite messaging service<\/a> to everyone yesterday, but we haven\u2019t seen any updates on its status.
